Our Tahoe trip that wasn't
We didn't even make it up Donnor Pass. We caught caught in the backlog behind the multipe spin out crashed on 80E. We sait in one spot for over 3 hours. Finally inched our way to an exit, turned around to head back down and found there were accidents on 80W. So we pulled off at an exit where there was a small restaurant and waitied over an hour to get served dinner. while waiting the power went out. finally back up generators kicked in. Finally ate dinner by 10 PM. The waitress brought some pillows for Zoe and she fell asleep on the floor with Vera's jacket for a banket. By that point they were saying that 80 would not open back up until mornng and at all vehicles required chains. We had rented a 4x4 but no chains. So we started looking for hotels in the foot hills. everything was booked all they way to Rocklin. So we made the drive back home. Left the house at 12:30 pm and arrived back at 2 am. We were at the restaurant close to 2.5 hours. Which means we spent close to 12 hours in the car. We're glad and relieved that we got home safely but disapointed that our family weekend away didn't work out as we planned.
